HOUSTON -- Astros left-hander Framber Valdez has thrown the third no-hitter of the 2023 season, shutting down the Cleveland Guardians in a 2-0 victory Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park.
Valdez retired the first 12 batters, with six strikeouts, before Oscar Gonzalez walked to open the fifth. But Valdez still faced the minimum in that inning thanks to a double play.
Valdez went on to retire the final nine batters of the game and finished with seven strikeouts. He threw 93 pitches, including 65 for strikes.
Kyle Tucker gave the Astros a 2-0 lead in the third inning with a two-run single.
