The LSU Tigers weren't expected to compete for a College Football Playoff bid this season, but they've proved the doubters wrong so far. We're here to correct those erroneous assumptions from the start of the season and Make The Case For LSU As A College Football Playoff Team.
3. Improved Play From Brandon Harris
Harris isn't TCU QB Trevone Boykin, but has Harris has improved each game. The dual-threat is coming off his two best performances, throwing for more than 200 yards and 2 TDs in each. He has yet to throw an INT this season. With Leonard Fournette in the backfield (we'll get to him), the Tigers just need Harris to continue to manage the game. If he does that, LSU will win the SEC and get a berth in the College Football Playoff.
2. Schedule
The Tigers have a hard schedule left, but they don't need to win every game to make the Playoff. Games versus Texas A&M and at Alabama and Ole Miss won't be easy, but each win will help LSU's College Football Playoff chances. While going undefeated would guaranteed them a bid, they can likely still get in with one loss, assuming they win the SEC Championship game. There is no way the committee will reject a one-less SEC team this season.
1. Leonard Fournette
I remain unconvinced that Fournette isn't a superhuman sent from the future to dominate all of football. What he is doing is simply absurd. On 150 carries this season, Fournette has 1,202 yards and 14 TDs. He is the only FBS player to eclipse 1,000 yards this season. Fournette's presence has opened up the passing game and made life easier for everyone around him. LSU can, and will, lean on Fournette as he carries them to a potential College Football Playoff berth.
