The LSU Tigers finished this season with a 8-3 record and kept their head coach after weeks of speculation that Les Miles was going to be fired. While LSU won't be playing in the College Football Playoff this season, they should still secure a good bowl game. Here are their three most likely destinations:
Texas Bowl (Big 12 vs. SEC)
Thursday, December 29, 9:00 p.m. ET
NRG Stadium, Houston, Texas
The Texas Bowl makes sense, as LSU isn't that far away from Houston. However, Texas A&M makes a little bit more sense as the SEC representative. It would pit the Aggies against an old Big 12 rival, which would be great for tickets and ratings. It's a possibility that LSU heads to this bowl, but it's not the favorite.
TaxSlayer Bowl (ACC/ND or Big Ten vs. SEC)
Saturday January 2, 12:00 p.m. ET
EverBank Field, Jacksonville, Florida
While it's not a bowl game on New Year's Day, this did use to be the Gator Bowl. It will also feature a high-quality opponent in a good location on a Saturday. It's highly unlikely Notre Dame gets this bowl game, which means it's down to an ACC or Big Ten team. Penn State is a strong possibility for this one.
Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl (Big Ten vs. SEC)
Friday, January 1, 1:00 p.m. ET
Orlando Citrus Bowl, Orlando, Florida
This is the game we want LSU to play in, because it could mean a matchup against Michigan. That would mean great ratings and ticket sales, as a matchup between Miles and his alma mater will be must-see TV. It's a game that's already in the works, so hopefully it comes true.
