The LSU Tigers have turned all of their attention to recruiting after wrapping up spring practice last week, and head coach Les Miles is certainly making good use of that time. Here's all the latest news and rumors surrounding LSU football recruiting:
LSU offers 3-star Florida commit
Three-star tight end Kemore Gamble (Miami, FL) received a scholarship offer from LSU on Saturday at the spring game. The Tigers have only recently showed interest in Gamble, and he's interested in learning more.
“I did not get to see much of the school or anything, so I want to come back and see it all,” he said, via 247sports. “You hear a lot about LSU and the coaches all seemed cool, so I want to see more.
“I was surprised because last year [the tight ends] had their hand on the ground. They were standing up this year and that’s what I want to do. They are losing a lot of guys this year, so I would have a chance to go in and maybe get a starting spot.”
All that being said, Gamble insists he's still firm on his commitment to Florida.
“I committed (to Florida) because I have a good relationship with their coaches, so that is what LSU has to do is form that bond with me. I have to get to know the coaches better. I feel good about my commitment to Florida, but I have some other places I am going to visit like Tennessee, LSU, Miami and some others.”
Gamble is ranked as the No. 13 tight end and No. 385 overall prospect in the country.
Tigers ramping up pursuit of 3-star WR
Three-star wideout Al'dontre Davis (Lutcher, LA) has over 20 scholarship offers from major conference programs, but he said LSU is one of the schools recruiting him the hardest and are "right in the mix."
“LSU has offered me and they are always trying to get me out there,” Davis told 247sports. “Cam Cameron has really been my main recruiter for LSU. He’s talked about it being a big opportunity to stay home and play in front of the whole state. It’s definitely a great thing to have that offer right now. LSU will definitely be in the mix for me."
The 6'0", 190-pounder is ranked as the No. 49 wide receiver and No. 320 overall prospect in the country.
Another LSU receiver transfers
Wide receiver Tony Upchurch plans to transfer from LSU, according to Ross Delinger of The Advocate. Upchurch is now the fourth wideout to transfer from the Tigers this season, joining John Diarse, Trey Quinn and Kevin Spears.
LSU had moved Upchurch from receiver to fullback during his freshman season, but back to receiver this spring, where he struggled. The Texas native is expected to transfer to one of the smaller D-I schools in the state.
