There is plenty to be excited about after the LSU Tigers' spring practice session, but there's also some concerns that need to be address before the 2015 season gets going just over four months from now. Here's 3 burning questions we have about LSU football following the spring session.
Can The Reserves Close The Gap?
There was a palpable divide between the readiness/pure talent of the starters and the second/third stringers during the spring game. The starting offense outgained the reserves by over five times (366 to 69), while the starting defense gave up just 2.7 yards per play before the half to the reserves' 11.1 yards per. The reserves on both sides of the ball need to close that gap to ensure LSU has the depth to hang with the SEC's best.
Will The Tight Ends Take On A More Prominent Role?
Offensive coordinator Cam Cameron has been working the team's tight ends like wide receivers all spring long and it paid off during the spring game. LSU's tight end gained over 100 yards on five catches, including a highlight-reel 50-yard TD reception by DeSean Smith. This could be a sign of a more active corps of tight ends in the passing game.
Who's The Starting QB?
Neither Anthony Jennings or Brandon Harris pulled ahead during the spring game, but they both had solid performances that had head coach Les Miles breathing a sigh of relief. Harris had more dynamic throws than Jennings during the game, but Jennings showed a steady hand as a game manager. The competition is close right now and likely won't be settled for some time yet.
