After winning over No. 3-seeded Missouri State University and No. 7-seeded University of Northern Iowa (UNI) April 2, the Loyola women’s volleyball team (11-8, 8-8) is on its way to its first-ever Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championship April 3.
The No. 6-seeded Ramblers’ win against Missouri State marked the team’s first conference tournament win since 2012. The team now advances to take on No. 1-seeded Illinois State University in the championship game. The Redbirds head into the game off an eight-game win-streak and have the home court advantage as the tournament is hosted in Normal, Ill.
In the quarterfinal match against Missouri State April 1, Loyola sophomore middle hitter Taylor Venuto made a team-best 18 kills and career-high 10 blocks.
