What went down: The Loyola men’s basketball team (9-1) traveled to Gainesville, Florida to take on the No. 5-ranked University of Florida. After making 10 of their first 13 points early on, the Ramblers held on to defeat the Gators 65-59. This is Loyola’s first victory over a top-five ranked team since the Ramblers knocked off the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign 63-62 in 1984.
How it happened: The Loyola offense was clicking throughout the game. The Ramblers shot 52 percent (26-for-50) for the game and 50 percent (6-of-12) from three-point range. Just before halftime, redshirt junior guard Clayton Custer went down with a leg injury.
