The Curious Case of Loyola Men’s Basketball’s Free Throw Shooting

The Loyola men’s basketball team (18-9, 10-4) has rattled off three consecutive wins — including knocking off the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) leading University of Northern Iowa Feb. 15. However, during that stretch, the Ramblers have struggled to convert from the free throw line, shooting just 54.4 percent as a team.

Loyola’s free throw shooting is a “glass half full” versus “glass half empty” kind of debate, based on perspective. The good: the Ramblers are elite at drawing fouls. They have the most free throw attempts of any MVC team this season. The bad: Loyola connects on just 66.
