Former Loyola women’s soccer player Jenna Szczesny is set to play professional soccer for the Chicago Red Stars next year, it was announced Thursday.
Szczesny was selected as the 35th overall pick of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Draft. She’s the first NWSL draft pick in Loyola’s history and the program’s first professional draft pick since Cynthia Morote-Ariza, who was selected by the Boston Breakers in the fifth round of the 2010 Women’s Professional Soccer draft.
