After a scorching hot nine game win streak to start to the season, the Loyola softball team (22-14, 6-8) has struggled with a cold spell during conference play.
Beginning Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) play March 16, the team has since struggled with seven wins over its last 17 games since its 2-1 loss to Missouri State University. These frustrations have been fixed in the team’s inability to generate runs consistently, as it averaged a mere three runs per game in conference play before its weekend sweep of Indiana State University at Loyola Softball Park April 5-6.
“I think any time you get in a funk at the dish in baseball or softball it’s tough,” head coach Jeff Tylka said.
