Playbooks and Textbooks: Loyola Wins MVC Academics Award

The jocks are hitting the books. Stealing the nerds’ thunder, Loyola’s student-athletes earned a higher grade-point average (GPA) than the general study body — winning the athletic department some hardware.

Loyola earned the MVC All-Academic Award for having the highest average student-athlete GPA among MVC schools in the 2018-19 academic year. Loyola finished with a school-record 3.484 average student-athlete GPA.

This marks Loyola’s first time winning the award, and it ended Bradley University’s three-year winning streak. Drake University finished second behind Loyola with a 3.446 GPA.
