The Loyola men’s soccer team (9-3-3) moves back into second place in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) standings after defeating Evansville University 1-0 on a cold and rainy Wednesday night at Loyola Soccer Park.
The only goal from either side was scored by Loyola’s sophomore forward Fabian Becerra in the fourth minute of the match. Becerra said scoring an early goal made it a lot easier on the team.
“I felt like it kind of put some pressure on them to score,” Becerra said. “We’re at home, and we defended this place.”
Becerra also received the only cautionary card of the match, earning a yellow card in the 52nd minute of the game.
