After erasing an 11-point second half deficit to force overtime, the Loyola men’s basketball team (14-7, 6-2) couldn’t complete the comeback against the University of Northern Iowa, losing 69-60 in Cedar Falls, Iowa Sunday afternoon. The Ramblers and Panthers are now tied for first place in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC).
“I was proud of our guys that they didn’t quit,” Loyola head coach Porter Moser said. “We didn’t play well enough to win. … [The Panthers] run their offense so hard, and they guard you so hard. It just takes a lot out of you.”
Loyola and Northern Iowa went back and forth through the first half, but the Panthers carried a four-point lead into halftime.
