Loyola men’s basketball head coach Porter Moser is known to wave his arms on the sidelines to try and get the Gentile Arena crowd energized. This year, his players have found their own way of bringing the fans to their feet: throwing down more slam dunks than ever before.
Through 18 games this season, the Ramblers have thrown down 22 dunks — more than double their 10 slams during that span last year. This change in scoring method was put on display during Loyola’s 85-74 victory over Drake University Jan. 5. Four different Ramblers, including 6-foot-3 first-year guard Cooper Kaifes, threw down dunks in a come-from-behind victory.
