The Loyola men’s basketball team (15-3, 6-1) defeated the Southern Illinois University (SIU) Salukis 59-47 at home Jan. 25 to bounce back after it lost its 30 game win streak to Missouri State University Jan. 22.
With the win, Loyola moves to 6-1 in Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) play while the Salukis drop to 3-5 in the league.
“It was a gutty win for our team,” head coach Drew Valentine said about the victory. “SIU does an outstanding job of making it hard for you offensively … I thought we did a really good job of playing with confidence… I think in the second half we really just buckled down defensively.
