Loyola Recruit Injured During Englewood Drive-By Shooting

Loyola men’s basketball recruit Ty Johnson was grazed by a bullet during a drive-by shooting in Englewood May 3.

Just before midnight, Johnson, 17, was walking with an 18-year-old woman on the 7000 block of South Throop Street when someone in a passing vehicle fired at them.

Johnson, a senior at DePaul College Prep, was grazed in the back of the head and was in good condition after being transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center. The 18-year-old woman was struck in the ear and brought to Stroger Hospital where she was later said to be in stable condition, according to the Chicago Police Department.
