The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) men’s basketball tournament tipped off Thursday night as No. 10 seeded Evansville University defeated No. 7 seeded Illinois State University 65-60 at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.
Senior guard Milik Yarbrough led Illinois State with 18 points while senior forward Phil Fayne had 17 points and ten rebounds. Evansville senior guard Marty Hill scored 16 points to lead the Purple Aces.
The Redbirds are scheduled to take on No. 2 seed Drake in the Arch Madness quarterfinal at 6 p.m. March 8.
