Ending a five-game winning streak, the Loyola women’s basketball team (17-11, 9-8) fell 51-28 to Southern Illinois University, largely due to Loyola’s poor shooting.
Southern Illinois is led by its efficient offense that scores 64.3 points per game on average while shooting 43% from the floor this season. The Salukis’ offense is powered by Abby Brockmeyer and Makenzie Silvey, averaging 16.3 and 16.2 points per game this season, respectively. When the Salukis shoot 40% or better from the field, they’re 8-2 this season.
Southern Illinois won the tip-off to start the game, and were quick to put themselves on the board with a three-pointer by Brockmeyer.
