LOS ANGELES -- Cory Abbott pitched the first perfect game in Loyola Marymount baseball history in a 2-0 victory over BYU on Saturday.
Abbott, a junior right-hander, struck out 13 of 27 batters and threw 106 pitches, including 79 strikes, for the Lions (13-10, 4-2 West Coast Conference).
Abbott had three-ball counts only three times. He struck out pinch-hitter Tanner Chauncey on a 3-2 pitch to finish the game against the defending conference champion Cougars (10-11, 1-2).
