– by Savanna Squires

On Oct. 18, New York Times best-selling author Suki Kim, of Without You There is No Us, gave a talk at the Louisville Free Public Library about her time spent in North Korea. The event was sponsored by UofL’s Center for Asian Democracy and the World Affairs Council.

Kimi is a South Korean born free-lance journalist who secretly went to North Korea five separate times.

She went in hopes of finding answers to questions about why North Korea is in the state it is and why such a corrupt dictatorship can last for over 70 years.
