Matt Baldwin, who played for the University of Louisville baseball team in 1999, was on hand for the UofL-Kentucky game Tuesday with his father Mike Baldwin. Unfortunately, he had to leave early, missing the action in the 10th inning of Louisville’s come-from-behind 2-1 win.
Matt is battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, and is participating in a study at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. UofL fans had an opportunity to assist him at the game in meeting treatment finances. No totals have been announced.
Matt, who is 35 years old and a father, started 16 games at a variety of infield positions for UofL, handling 55 chances without an error, before incurring a broken wrist that ended his season.
