Just when it looked like Louisville had signed all the players they were going to sign on National Signing Day, a local star threw everyone a curveball.
Jairus Brents, a four-star cornerback out of Waggener High School, announced Wednesday night that he has signed his letter of intent to stay home and play for the Cardinals. Bobby Petrino confirmed the news at Louisville’s signing day party at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.
According to 247 Sports’ composite rankings, Brents is the 24th-best cornerback in the class of 2018 and the 230th best overall prospect in the country. He had not included Louisville as a finalist during any portion of his recruitment, but ultimately chose U of L over West Virginia, Florida State and Cincinnati, among others.
