Chinanu Onuaku wasn’t the only Louisville Cardinal center to represent his country in recent weeks. Redshirt junior Mangok Mathiang also traveled abroad for international competition.
Mathiang was a member of Australia’s national team in the World University Games. Despite the team finishing in tenth place, Mathiang played exceptionally well.
Mangok led the 23-team tournament in rebounding and finished tied for eighth in scoring, producing five double-doubles. He started all eight games for Australia, averaging 13.5 points and 10.3 rebounds while shooting 56.1 percent from the field, which was fourth best in the tournament. Mangok also had seven blocked shots.
