Though his final season as a Cardinal didn't end the way he would have wanted it to, Corey Ray is the first player in the history of Louisville baseball to be a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award.

Louisville junior outfielder Corey Ray was among four finalists named Monday for the 2016 USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award sponsored by Major League Baseball and presented in partnership with the Rod Dedeaux Foundation. The 2016 edition marks the 39th consecutive year the Golden Spikes Award has been awarded to the top amateur baseball player in the United States.
