Louisville WBB had not won a conference championship since 1993...until today. Despite having three starters who sat much of the first half with foul trouble (as opposed to Notre Dame who had 4 fouls in the first half—total), the Cards were only down 37-35 going into halftime.
In the second half Louisville pushed the lead to 7 but Notre Dame never let the game get away from them. The Cards were clutch in the final minutes with Arica Carter, Asia Durr, and Sam Fuehring all making big shots and calmly sinking free throws to give Louisville a 74-72 victory.
