Louisville’s NCAA tournament fate was revealed Sunday evening and the seventh-seeded Cardinals will open the 2019 NCAA tournament Thursday against Richard Pitino and Minnesota in Des Moines. The game is part of the East Region, which is headlined by No. 1 overall seed Duke.
Should the Cardinals get past Minnesota, they would face the winner of a first round game between No. 15 seed Bradley and a second-seeded Michigan State team that U of L defeated back in November.

Minnesota, which hasn’t won a game in the NCAA tournament since 2013, is 21-13 overall and coming off a surprise run to the semifinals of the Big Ten tournament.
