There’s no question that the Louisville defense has been a sore spot for the Cards over the last 36 months. Louisville’s defense achieved quite a bit under former defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, before a soured relationship with Bobby Petrino saw him pack his bags and head to Mississippi State.
In came Mississippi State’s Peter Sirmon, who spent one year with the team before heading to Louisville. Sirmon came in with a lot of questions after he essentially coached the Bulldogs defense from being one of the top in SEC to a bottom feeder in less than six months.
