In the first game of its final series of the regular season, the second-ranked Louisville baseball team defeated NC State 4-3, and in the process earned head coach Dan McDonnell his 400th career victory.

Louisville had never won an NCAA Tournament game (and had played in just one) before McDonnell's arrival in 2007. They have now been to the three College World Series and are poised for another run to Omaha.
