Leading by 22 points with 18 minutes to play, Chris Mack’s team felt like they were well on their way to a dominating win over Akron on Sunday evening in the KFC Yum! Center. They were mistaken, as Louisville basketball’s offense became stagnant, and the defense became nonexistent at times.
Akron took advantage of this opportunity, outscoring Louisville 43-27 the rest of the way. The Zips even cut the lead to four points in the final minute of the game. The crowd grew restless and the Cards were able to hold off Akron in an 82-76 victory.
