For the first time this season, the Louisville Cardinals have dropped in the basketball rankings. After their second loss on the season, the Cardinals sit at 18th on both the AP Top 25 and USA Today’s Coaches Polls as they head into conference play this Sunday.
It doesn’t bring me much excitement to write about our team dropping in the polls, but I can say that walking into conference play in the top 20 brings a lot of excitement. After starting this season unranked, being 18th doesn’t sound too bad. I know people question our legitimacy as a team based on the fact that we haven’t beaten anyone credible and lost to the only credible competition we’ve faced this year, but I think our losses help to set us up as a serious threat on the court in our conference play.
