Louisville baseball hammers Kentucky, 18-6, for season sweep

The Louisville baseball team polished off a season sweep of arch-rival Kentucky with an 18-6 thumping of the Wildcats Tuesday night in Lexington. The Cards have now won 11 of the last 13 against the Cats.

U of L lit up UK pitching to the tune of 23 hits, the most the Cards have produced during any game in the Dan McDonnell era. The 18 runs were also the most Louisville has scored in a game against Kentucky since 1976.

Louisville actually fell behind Kentucky 5-1 after the game’s opening two frames. The visitors then clawed back with two runs in the top of the third and three more an inning later to begin the route.
