Russ Smith played well in this year’s NBA Summer League, however it proved to not be enough for him to earn an NBA contract. Former Louisville Cardinal Trey Lewis also recently signed with a foreign professional basketball team a week ago. Like many other Cardinal players before him, Smith is sure to be one of Galatasaray’s best players.
CBS Sports also reported today that Smith signed with the Turkish Squad, “After being selected 47th overall in the 2014 NBA Draft, Smith has played 27 games in the NBA and 47 in the D-league, but has never been able to find consistent minutes at the highest level.
