Shannon Sloss streaked down the field and found Nicole Woods near the goal box who knocked in the deciding goal in a 1-0 Cardinal victory over UMass at Trager Stadium.
“It was a transition from defense to offense, Shannon got the ball, I tried to get ahead and she gave me a good pass,” Woods said. “I put it away.”
The Cardinals had nine penalty corners and outshot UMass by four, but couldn’t find the back of the net until Woods goal with 11 minutes left in regulation.
Even though Head Coach Justine Sowry said the backline of the defense appeared fatigued throughout the game, the Cardinals held firm.
