The Derby Weekend was kicked off by the 149th annual Kentucky Oaks race, bringing 3 year old fillies to compete in a series of 13 races for the $1.25 million dollar prize.
Pink is the color of choice on Oaks day, promoting breast cancer awareness.
The overall winner of the Kentucky Oaks race was Pretty Mischievous, jockeyed by Tyler Gaffalione and trained by Brendan Walsh. Gaffalione will race in the Derby tomorrow, riding Bob Baffert’s Medina Spirit.
