On Feb. 9 Bird Hall hosted a cappella groups from several different high schools including Mercy, Atherton, Eastern and South Oldham, as well as U of L’s very own, Cardinal Rule. Throughout the evening, the vocal groups performed modern hits and classic favorites.
A cappella, by definition, is vocal music “without instrumental accompaniment,” and Cardinal Rule features the style brilliantly.
The performance started with the Athertones who performed “Blackbird” and “Under Pressure.” Dragonbeats, from South Oldham High School, performed “Geronimo” and “Renegades.” Next, the Stilettones from Mercy Academy performed “Penny Lane” as well as “Happy” from Marina and the Diamonds.
