A legal suit has been filed to continue removal of the confederate statue. Reported by the Courier-Journal, Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connel filed the suit on Monday to fight a restraining order against Mayor Greg Fischer. O’Connel says the statue’s location is actually controlled by Louisville Metro, giving Fischer the power to remove it.
Fischer was sued by republican congressional candidate Everett Corley May 2. The suit called Fischer and President James Ramsey’s statue removal a “political book burning,” and sought to keep the statue in place.
