JONESBORO, Ark. – Ty Cockfield and Grantham Gillard combined to score 51 points and Marquis Eaton converted two free throws with :08 left to give Arkansas State a 73-72 victory over ULM Thursday night (March 7) at First National Bank Arena.
Gillard hit three-straight 3-pointers as A-State raced out to a 12-4 lead. Daishon Smith's four-point play sparked a 16-7 run and ULM took its first lead at 20-19 as Michael Ertel connected on a fall-away jumper from the right baseline with 10:06 left in the opening half. The Red Wolves answered with a 12-2 spurt and built their largest lead at 31-22 on Gillard's jumper from the lane with 5:42 to play.
