MONROE, La. – ULM L Club Hall of Famer Larry Saulters, a four-year starter at point guard for Lenny Fant from 1966-70, died Saturday, Sept. 1 in Katy, Texas. He was 70.
Saulters set ULM (formerly Northeast Louisiana) set single-game (19 vs. Mississippi College in 1970), single-season (251 in 1969-70) and career (398 from 1966-70) records for assists. He was voted the team's Most Valuable Player by his teammates and coaches as a junior in 1968-69 and shared MVP honors as a senior with Henry Steele in 1969-70. That same 1969-70 season, Saulters averaged 11.
