MONROE, La. – Having not seen his parents in over 15 years, senior Majok Deng from the men’s basketball program was in search of a new home when he came to ULM in the fall of 2014.
Deng’s parents live in Sudan where he was born. He moved to Kenya for four years when he was eight and then his parents sent him and his siblings (one brother, three sisters) to Adelaide, Australia before high school in hopes of a better education and more opportunities. Deng found his way to the United States through basketball.
“In Australia, I was just playing basketball for fun, but I was really bad,” Deng said.
