HATTIESBURG, Miss. – ULM football brought out its big gun to serve as honorary team captain Saturday at Southern Miss.
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson, the former ULM star quarterback and defending Super Bowl champion, was in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to support the Warhawks and the team made it worth the trip as it delivered a 21-20 victory. Pederson's NFL Eagles opened their season with a win over the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night, which gave him an opening to see the Warhawks in person.
Pederson came up with the idea during lunch with ULM head coach Matt Viator in July and invited his friend and USM alum Brett Favre to do the same for the Golden Eagles.
