Louisiana-Monroe has hired Matt Viator to be its new football coach, according to a source.
Viator has been one of the most successful coaches at the FCS level with McNeese State, posting a winning season every year while compiling a 77-33 record over 10 seasons. His McNeese State teams have traditionally produced high-scoring offenses.
The Cowboys were 10-0 this season before being knocked out of the FCS playoffs in the second round by Sam Houston State.
Viator succeeds Todd Berry, who went 28-43 in six seasons at ULM.
In 2014, McNeese State almost pulled off a historic upset at Nebraska.
