HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The ULM softball team fell victim to four-run and five-run innings during a 10-2 loss to Southern Miss Wednesday night inside USM Softball Complex.
The Warhawks (22-27) went down 1-0 in the first inning after Golden Eagles (24-24) leadoff hitter Lauren Holifield lifted a solo homer to left center on the very first pitch she saw from junior Melanie Coyne (16-18).
Senior Amye Barre gave ULM’s offense a boost in the second when she hit her second solo homer in as many games to tie the game at one.
The first scoring barrage from USM came in the form of a four-run third where the Golden Eagles scored via a sacrifice fly, an RBI single and a two-run homer.
