LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team opens the 2016-17 season on Saturday as it faces Southland opponent McNeese at Burton Coliseum.

Louisiana, which finished 25-10 last season and won its second consecutive Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI) Championship, returns three starters for fifth-year coach Garry Brodhead.
Simone Fields (9.2 ppg), Jaylyn Gordon (14.9 ppg) and Jodi Quinn (2.9 ppg) all return as starters for the Ragin' Cajuns. Junior college transfer Troi Swain, senior Sylvana Okde, senior Taylor Washington, senior Gabby Alexander, junior Nekia Jones, sophomore Breionne Cooper and freshman Danyale Bayonne will look to contribute for the Ragin' Cajuns this season.
