Women's Basketball: Slow Start Dooms Cajuns in 68-59 Loss

MOBILE, Ala. -- Despite a game-high 26 points from senior Keke Veal and a double-double from sophomore Simone Fields, the Cajuns couldn't overcome a slow first half start, falling, 68-59 at South Alabama Saturday afternoon.

The loss dropped the Cajuns record to 18-9 and 11-7 in Sun Belt Conference play. The Cajuns were held to 31.9% shooting (22-of-69) from the floor and deposited just 2-of-12 shots from three-point range.

Louisiana's largest lead stood at three points at 3-0 and 5-2 in the early stages of the first quarter.

The Jaguars offense went on a 12-2 scoring surge over the next 3:16 to open a 14-7 lead.
