LAFAYETTE – Senior Orynn Veillon deserved every bit of the ice bath he received on Wednesday night after his 12-inning home run lifted the Ragin' Cajuns to a thrilling 6-5 victory over Southern Miss at Russo Park.
With the win, Louisiana (7-10) improves to 2-2 in extra-inning affairs and 3-2 in midweek games this season. The Ragin' Cajuns also produced double-digit hits for just the fourth-time this year with 10.
Veillon's winning hit was his fourth homer of the season, tied for the most on the team with Handsome Monica, and his only hit of the game.
