EWA BEACH, Hawaii – Charlie Flynn and freshman Eli Ortego each recorded rounds of 4-under-par 68 and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team used a strong second round to claim the overall lead after the first day of the Hoakalei CC Invitational on Monday at Hoakalei Country Club.
Louisiana, which posted a team score of 10-under par 278 in the afternoon round, finished at 9-under 567 after 36 holes and two strokes ahead of Loyola Marymount heading into Tuesday's final round.
The Ragin' Cajuns, who placed four golfers in the top 12 in the 79-player field, tied the fourth lowest round versus par (10-under 278) in school history with its low round equaling their lowest since the first round of the 2020 All-American while tying for the ninth-best 36-hole score (567) in school history.
