LAFAYETTE – Powered by a strong start, and sophomore center Ty'Reona Doucet's 23 points, Louisiana Women's Basketball (3-11, 1-2 SBC) got its first Sun Belt Conference win of the season, snapping a nine-game losing streak in the process, taking down the Georgia State Panthers (7-7, 1-2 SBC), 57-54, Thursday night at the CAJUNDOME.
Doucet led the way with her fourth 20-point game of the season, finishing with 23 points and seven rebounds. While sophomore guard Jomyra Mathis scored a career-high 14 points, 13 of which came in the second half, to power Louisiana to victory.
