LAFAYETTE – All signs pointed to Louisiana locking up an Opening Night victory late in the game, but the 23rd-ranked Texas Longhorns stalled a bases-loaded opportunity by the Ragin' Cajuns and scored two runs in the top of the 10th inning to claim a 3-1 victory on Friday.
The Cajuns (0-1) had two different chances in the bottom of the ninth to plate the winning run after loading up the bases, but could not find the hit they needed to come away on top.
Returning to the mound for the first time in over 600 days, senior Gunner Leger wowed in his five innings of work, allowing just two hits and striking out four batters.
