LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team set a Cajundome record with 14 three-pointers on the way to defeating Georgia Southern 79-52 on Saturday at the Cajundome.
Louisiana (10-4, 4-1 SBC) used a balanced team effort including 25 points from Jaylyn Gordon and a double-double from Simone Fields with 16 points and 12 rebounds to give the Cajuns a fourth straight win.
Georgia Southern (5-11, 1-4 SBC) jumped out to an early 12-5 lead when Angel McGowan knocked down a three-pointer with 4:59 left in the first quarter.
The Cajuns closed the gap and a Jasmine Thomas layup with 28 seconds to go in the first period cut the Eagles' lead to 18-16 at the end of the first frame.
