LAFAYETTE – With the game knotted up at 27-27 with 5:30 to play, Coastal Carolina took the clock down to eight seconds and connected on a game-winning 40-yard field goal to upset No. 21 Louisiana, 30-27, on Saturday night at Cajun Field.
It was a back-and-forth affair all night, with the two teams matching scores for the first three quarters and going head-to-head in total yards (414-413) in favor of the Chanticleers.
Quarterback Levi Lewis led the way in both offensive phases, going 14-for-24 for 173 yards and a touchdown through the air and carrying the ball six times for 84 yards and a score on the ground, just the fifth rushing score of his career.
